Rebecca Luker
(1961 - )
|
|
Currently on Broadway as Mrs. Banks in Disney's MARY POPPINS,
Rebecca Luker made her Broadway debut as one of the many actresses to play
Christine in the long-running THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
She quickly established herself as one of Broadway's busiest
performers with roles in the original cast of THE SECRET GARDEN (Lily) and
the revival casts of SHOW BOAT (Magnolia), THE SOUND OF MUSIC (Maria), THE
MUSIC MAN (Marian) and NINE (Claudia).
She is a three-time Tony nominee for her work in SHOW
BOAT, THE MUSIC MAN and MARY POPPINS.
Her latest CD, LEAVING HOME, is a lovely collection of
story songs from a number of contemporary songwriters including Billy Joel,
Joni Mitchell, Amanda McBroom and Carly Simon. |

Larry Blyden
(1925 - 1975) |
|
Those of us who remember the classic game shows of the
1960s-70s will recall jovial actor Larry Blyden as a frequent panelist on
PASSWORD, TO TELL THE TRUTH, WHAT'S MY LINE and MATCH GAME.
However, it was on the Broadway stage that he first made his
mark starting with his debut as Ensign Pulver in the 1948 hit play MR.
ROBERTS.
His best known musical theatre roles are Sammy Fong in the
original FLOWER DRUM SONG opposite Oscar-winning actress Miyoshi Umeki,
Narrator/Balladeer/Snake in THE APPLE TREE with Alan Alda and Barbara Harris
and his Tony Award-winning role of Hysterium in the 1971 revival of A FUNNY
THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM.
He also played Barbra Streisand's fiancée, Warren Pratt,
in the big-screen musical version of ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER. |
