Fanny Brice
(1891 - 1951)

"There is no director who can direct you like an audience." - Fanny Brice

Let's get one thing perfectly clear from the start - if all you know about Fanny Brice you learned from films FUNNY GIRL and FUNNY LADY, then you only know maybe half the details of this remarkable comedienne's life story.

Born Fania Borach to parents who owned a chain of successful saloons in Newark, NJ, she dropped out of high school to join a burlesque revue. In 1910, famed empresario Florenz Ziegfeld offered her a spot in his Follies and a star was born. During her years with the Follies, she went on to introduce such classics songs as My Man, Second Hand Rose and Rose Of Washington Square as well as her best known character, precocious brat Baby Snooks, which she would later play with equal success in radio from 1936 to her death.

Somewhat less successful in her personal life, she married and divorced three husbands, barber Frank White, con man and gambler Nick Arnstein (father of her two children, Frances and William) and Broadway producer Billy Rose. Her daughter Frances' husband, Ray Stark, produced the FUNNY GIRL film.

Mandy Patinkin
(1952 -)
Whether performing in Broadway musicals, sell-out concerts or his long resume of movie and television roles, Mandy Patinkin undeniably exemplifies one of the entertainment industry's most enduring and endearing crowd pleasers.

A graduate of the Julliard School of Drama, he won a Tony Award for his Broadway musical debut as Che in EVITA. He then starred in the original casts of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE and THE SECRET GARDEN. He has also presented his solo Broadway concerts DRESS CASUAL (1989) and MAMALOSHEN (1998) to delighted audiences in cities across the United States.

His most notable film roles include THE PRINCESS BRIDE (Inigo Montoya), YENTL (Avigdor), RAGTIME (Tateh) and DICK TRACY (88 Keys). Television viewers know him as Dr. Geiger on CHICAGO HOPE, a role which won him an Emmy Award in 1995. He is currently appearing with "Dharma & Greg" star Thomas Gibson in the CBS TV series CRIMINAL MINDS.

He is married to actress Katherine Grody and is a devoted dad to sons Issac and Gideon.
