Charlotte D'Amboise
(1964 - )
|
|
Daughter of noted dancers Jacques D'Amboise and Carolyn
George, Charlotte D'Amboise performed on Broadway in CATS and SONG AND DANCE
before landing a featured role in one of musical theatre's most notorious
flops - CARRIE THE MUSICAL - playing Chris, the teen who dumps that infamous
bucket of pig blood on Carrie's head at the prom and causes her own death in
the process. She was nominated for a Tony Award for
her next musical, the hit revue JEROME ROBBINS' BROADWAY, playing several
roles including Peter Pan and Anita in the WEST SIDE STORY segment. Other
Broadway roles on her resume include Lola (DAMN YANKEES), Kathy (COMPANY),
Roxie Hart (CHICAGO), Charity (SWEET CHARITY) and Cassie in the 2006 revival
of A CHORUS LINE.
Charlotte is married to fellow musical theatre performer
Terrence Mann, star of the original Broadway companies of CATS (Rum Tum
Tugger) and LES MISERABLES (Javert). |

David Wayne
(1914 - 1995) |
|
David Wayne has a very special place in Tony Award history.
During the initial Awards ceremony in 1947, he was the only performer
honored for his work in a musical, thus becoming the very first musical
theatre Tony winner for playing leprechaun Og in the musical hit, FINIAN'S
RAINBOW. Considered one of the stage and screen most
versatile and underrated actors, Wayne appeared in few musicals on Broadway
after FINIAN'S RAINBOW (THE YEARLING, THE HAPPY TIME), but distinguished
himself primarily in comedic roles in straight plays such as Ensign Pulver
in MISTER ROBERTS and Okinawan interpreter Sakini In TEAHOUSE OF THE AUGUST
MOON.
On film, he has roles in a number of well-known films
including Kip Lurie in ADAM'S RIB (where he crooned the Cole Porter song,
"Farewell Amanda" to Katharine Hepburn), Joanne Woodward's husband in the
Oscar-winning drama THE THREE FACES OF EVE and empresario Sol Hurok in
TONIGHT WE SING.
He created several notable TV characters as well -- The
Mad Hatter (BATMAN), Richard Queen (ELLERY QUEEN), Digger Barnes (DALLAS),
Dr. Weatherby (HOUSE CALLS) and Charles Dutton (THE GOOD LIFE), just to name
a few. |
