Eartha Kitt
(1927 - 2008)

One of the stage and screen's most recognizable, original legends, Eartha Kitt rose to fame in NEW FACES OF 1952 performing the delightful comedic song MONOTONOUS -- a tale of a sultry lady bored with the lavish attentions of her wealthy suitors.  This persona of the exotic, worldly femme fatale would become her trademark.

Her other Broadway musical roles include mehitabel the cat in SHINBONE ALLEY, Shaleem-La-Lume in TIMBUKTU!, Dolores in THE WILD PARTY and Liliane in NINE. Her final performance in a musical was in the 2006 Off-Broadway production MIMI LA DUCK.

A successful recording and cabaret artist, her hits include "Champagne Taste," An Old-Fashioned Girl," "C'est Si Bon" and the holiday smash "Santa Baby."

Television audiences know her as the second performer (following Julie Newmar) to play "Catwoman" on BATMAN.  Of course, no actress before or since could ever hope to utter Catwomen's signature "purr-fect" quite like Ms. Kitt.
